High Falls One of the most popular areas for mountain biking is DuPont State forest which straddles Transylvania and Henderson Counties and offers over 100 miles of trails. In fact, according the the official website for the forest, the waterfalls in DuPont probably has more "falling water" per square mile than any public land in the Southeast.

Nantahala National Forest which stretches over nearly 1.4 million of southwestern NC, reaching from Pisgah Forest into nearby Tennessee and South Carolina and is the largest National Forest in North Carolina. This is where you'll find the Tsali trail with over 40 miles of trail loops. Tsali has been rated as the top 10 places to ride in the southeast.
