World Series Starts Tonight!

World SeriesOk, all you baseball fans...the World Series starts tonight. The Tampa Bay Rays and the Philadelphia Phillies square off in St. Petersburg, Fl. Personally, I'm thrilled to see the Rays finally make it to the big show. I lived in St. Petersburg for a long time and was there when the Trop (aka Tropicana Field) was built. Back then it didn't have any big corporate sponsor and it was called the Suncoast Dome. All of St. Petersburg was pinning it's downtown redevelopment hopes on major league baseball at that time. That was back in late 80's, early 90's. It's too bad that it's taken this long to get the right mix of management and players...but here they are...playing at home in the first world series in franchise history!

So...any predictions on who will take the title? The Rays took the play offs to a nail biting 7 games...will my heart hold out for more of the same?

Batter up!

Carol, I can not believe there are no true baseball fans out here on AR:))) I am originally from Boston a DiHard Redsox Fan. I even went back when they had the Ring Ceremony in 2005 after the First Championship. Anyway since the Rays beat us I hape you understand I am not watching. I am actually protesting:)))Well as they say there is always next year.

Moyer made a tremendous defensive play last night when he flipped the ball with his glove to first.  The low camera angle shows full extension.  I love this game.

Hey Endre, I know how you feel. At least you guys have gotten to altar before! LOL

And yea, I can't believe more folks have chimed in about the series this year.  It's really a cinderella story for the Rays no matter who you root for.

Thanks!

Baseball is like watching two people playing catch and seven guys standing around watching them.

But that is just my opinion.
