The winter months are traditionally slow months for real estate in this part of western North Carolina and December 2008 proved to be no exception.
In Tranyslvania County, which includes Brevard and the surrounding communities of Pisgah Forest, Rosman, Cedar Mountain, and others, there were 16 residential closings in December. There were 12 closings in the $100-$300K price range, three in the $500K range, and only one in the $100K or less range. While the number of closings mirrored November, the December 2008 numbers were down from December 2007 when there were 25 closings.
The average closing price also fell from $326,128 in November, to $292,000 for December. Median prices averaged $212,500 which was down only slightly from $218,500 in November.
By year’s end there were 291 residential closings for all of 2008.
